HORNET CLASS RULES
2008 Adult

DECISION ON INTERPRETATION OF RULES BY TECH INSPECTORS SHALL BE FINAL. No change from stock production automobile or component parts except as listed in these rules. NO EXCEPTIONS, IF IT DOESN'T SAY YOU CAN, YOU CAN'T. Equipment that the officials consider exotic or not in the intent of the rules, will be considered illegal and will be confiscated.

Penalties for infractions will be determined at the time of discovery. They can vary from fix it by the next race, to a fine, forfeiture of points and or purse money. Conformity in penalties will be maintained. Flagrant repeated infractions may lead to suspension for a period of races to be determined by the officials.

ADULT HORNETS - 2007 main points only will be awarded to the car number. Driver must take the green flag to earn points. Members only will be allowed to drive.

NO ANTI FREEZE

  1. Any four (4) cylinder, or US made (i.e. Ford, GM, Mopar) front wheel drive, V^ not more than 3810 cc's, steel-bodied car with a maximum wheelbase of one hundred eight inches (108") and a complete stock body, frame and suspension. No bracing anywhere except inside the drivers compartment. Dash, steering and pedals must remain stock for that make and model. All insulation under the hoop must be removed. No turbos.
  2. Stock carburetor/fuel injection system for that make and model.
  3. Stock transmission for that make and model.
  4. Battery must be securely fastened and remain under the hood.
  5. Stock unaltered rear end for that make and model.
  6. Stock exhaust system for that make and model. Mufflers are mandatory. Ninety (90) db @ 100 feet.
  7. Approved passenger car tires only (example: 70 or 60 series) wheels and tires must be of like size. No low profile-type tires. No "V" "W" "Y"or "ZR" speed symbols allowed. No high-end DOT approved race type tire.
  8. Weight rule: 4 cylinder 2000 lbs., V6 - 2200 lbs. Track officials reserve the right to make necessary weight adjustment to keep racing competitive.

Gas Tanks

  1. If stock gas tank is ahead of rear axle it may remain in place.
  2. If stock gas tank is behind rear axle, it must be replaced with a fuel cell or boat tank. (8 gallon maximum)
  3. Fuel cell/boat tanks must be covered, secured and located in trunk.

Roll Bars

  1. Mandatory
  2. All hornet race cars, adult and youth, will now have a 4-point roll cage. You may add to an exhisting H-bar for front part of roll cage. Option 2: Build a new 4-point roll cage with three (3) driver side door bars, one (1) passenger side door bar and two (2) bars runing back to the center of the rear axel. Seat and seat belts to be mounted to roll cage. You will be allowed to run two (2) pieces of three (3) inch channel iron or grader blade on driver side door if you don't want to add door bars. All roll cages must be approved by tech.
  3. Driver's door must be welded or chained shut.
  4. All glass (except windshield) must be removed. To complete, cars must be cleaned out form any loose material.
  5. Third brake light must remain intact and in working condition.
  6. Approved helmets, neck brace, single layer race suit, high back aluminum racing seat, five (5) point racing seat belts, gloves, and drivers side window net required.
  7. Cars must be neatly painted with primary colors only, i.e. red, gren, blue, white or black.
  8. Car numbers on door must be at least twenty inches (20") tall in a contrasting color two digits only. Roof numbers must be at least thirty-six inches (36") in height. NO Chrome or aluminum numbers. You must also have a car number on the right front headlight cover or upper right corner of windshield.
  9. Two hundred dollar ($200) management claim in effect at all times. Claim does not include fuel cell, seat or seat belts.
  10. All cars are subject to a minimum specification inspection at any time. It is the responsibility of the driver to prepare their car free of defects and in safe racing condition.
  11. All cars must carry a charged 2 ¾ lb ABC dry chemical or halon fire extinguisher, securely mounted and within easy reach of the driver.
  12. Bumper replacement is allowed. One (1) piece of up to two (2) inch exhaust pipe mounted to stock frame location. Front and rear.
  13. Moving up from Youth Hornets: a youth in the Youth Hornets will be given the option at age 15 to race Mini Stocks or at age 16 to race in Hobby, Street or Sprints for two (2) races in making a decision to move up. There will be no points allowed for these races. If the youth decides to go back to the Youth class, that is where they must stay. If they choose to move up, they cannot go back to the Youth class.
  14. Driver must take the green flag to earn points in main event. NO POINTS WILL BE AWARDED IF A DRIVER DOES NOT TAKE THE GREEN FLAG FOR MAIN EVENT.
  15. Should an accident occur on the first lap of a Hornet race, there will be single file restarts.
